Wedding Tips & Advice from The Granary Estates Event Team Themselves

February is our ‘quieter time of the year’ with hosting weddings but don’t be fooled, our event team are busy bees, behind their screens replying to emails, booking in viewings and meetings + planning our year ahead.

This month is a very busy ‘webmin’ month for couples, so we thought we would help you out and ask our events team what their TOP tips and advice for couples would be… Lets just say when I first asked the team, well… I could of made a TV programme with how long it was!! With nearly 27 years of wedding experience and stories to tell we are never short of experiences to share.

So… Here are the number ONE tips and advice from The Granary Estates Event team:

What is your No.1 tip you would give to couples when viewing a wedding venue?

Becca - Head of Weddings & Events

Always take the time to think of some questions before you get there. There is so much information to take in at a viewing you will be sure to forget them if not written down.

Parris - Weddings & Events Manager

Take the time to go back and view your top venue to make sure you still love it like you did the first time and make sure it feels right before confirming. Sorry I have two….. shhh… don’t tell the others … Make sure to check out the toilets.

Alice - Weddings & Events Manager

Try and view your venue around the time of year you are wanting to get married so you can get a realistic idea of what the grounds etc will look like on your wedding day. If it’s not possible to see it at that time of year, request to see photos of the time of year you are looking at!

Felicity (Fi) - Weddings & Events Assistant

Think about what you both want out of a venue – It’s both of your wedding day, therefore needs to suit you both.nce.

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Becca - Don’t overthink your decision, go with your gut when making decisions, it won’t let you down.

Parris - Your suppliers are professionals in their own fields so reach out for help and advice. You booked them because you trust them so ask for advice when needed.

Alice - Remember its your wedding day and you can personalise it exactly how you like! Wedding traditions are lovely but don’t feel like you must stick to them if you don’t want to. Want to see each other before the ceremony to help calm the nerves -  then do!!

Fi - You won’t be able to please/provide for everyone so don’t let it stress you out. You are putting on a full day of entertainment and just remember its YOUR day.

What one bit of advice would you give to a couple on their wedding day itself?

Becca - Take the time to have some alone time with just the two of you. Your day will go so quickly so it’s nice to reflect throughout the day with just each other.

Parris - Pack your ‘Bride Survival Kit’ for on the day. Here is a great read for what should be in this: What to Include in Your Bridal Survival Kit - hitched.co.uk - hitched.co.uk + Got to be the same as Becca, take some time out to spend some time together in short bursts throughout the day.

Alice - Remember to drink water!! On your wedding day you will be so busy talking to guests, having photos, etc, it’s very easy to forget to stay hydrated. Allocate a bridesmaid/groomsmen the job of making sure you are topped up with water throughout the day to avoid feeling unwell later on in the evening. As your event manager we will keep bringing you water as well…. We’ve got you, don’t worry!

Fi - Trust your suppliers. You have done all the hard work with the planning now it’s in their hands so relax and enjoy your day.

What is your favourite season for a wedding?

Becca - Autumn, when the leaves start to turn it’s so beautiful at the barns.

Parris - It’s got to be Winter (December)!! Have you seen our Christmas Tree!!

Alice - Late Spring/early summer - Its Aperol Spritz season!

Fi - This is so hard! I love all the seasons as each season has a different feel. If I had to choose one, I would choose a winter wedding, with the Christmas tree and I love the fact you can get away with doing black tie vibes!

What is your favourite part of a wedding day ?

Becca - The bride walking down the aisle with her chosen person. It gives me all the feels!!

Parris - This is so hard!!! The moment before the couple walk into the wedding breakfast, after having a few minutes to themselves in their own bubble. Make sure your MC gets your guests up dancing!

Alice - Towards the end of the first dance – the couple are on the dance floor and are being joined by all of their family and friends! The Dancefloor is packed and the atmosphere is amazing!! It’s the best bit of the day for me and I still get goosebumps after 6 years of seeing it!

Fi - Just before the bride walks down the aisle – That last squeeze and look, that deep breath in they both take, gets me every time! This is the part I’m most looking forward to on my wedding day!!!
