5 top tips on how to style your Flint Barn ceremony…

Our flint barn is one of two spaces where you can hold your ceremony with us here at The Granary Estates. The Flint Barn is our smaller barn which holds a maximum of 88 guests and it is a great space for your guests to start their journey at the beginning of the your wedding day. We will be sharing with you our 5 top tips on how to style our flint barn for your ceremony…

1 - Choose your theme/colour scheme

Make sure to highlight the best features within the venue and add to this with the décor you choose. Think about why you fell in love with the venue when choosing it and make sure you draw attention to this when styling your ceremony area. We would recommend trying to stay away from too many matching colours within this space and ensure you choose a colour palette that compliments the area, accenting some only where contrasting colours aren’t present in the flint barn.

2 - Reusing items from your ceremony

Think about what you choose to have in the flint barn for your ceremony that you could use elsewhere within the venue so you are making the most out of it. For example, if you are choosing to have meadow arrangements, could they then be used for your top table or if you have pew ends, use these to style our white bench or cake table that is provided within the venue hire here at The Granary Estates.

3 - How will it look on the camera?

From a styling perspective, it always looks better to concentrate your attention to a smaller space and make it an absolutely "wow" area rather than spreading your décor out too thinly and making the entire room look bland and washed out. Thinking about where the photographer will be taking most of the photos and what will get captured the most whilst having your ceremony in the flint barn. As pictured you can see previous couples have liked using a moongate or an arch to frame themselves when saying their vows, as this is what will be most photographed and focused on most throughout this time. You will also be sat at the signing table for a small amount of time whilst having your photo taken, this is where us as professionals would 100% recommend you have a bold statement piece that ties in with the rest of your day as this will be the first photo as a married couple.

4 - Lighting

Our flint barn is a great space for day light beaming in but we would always recommend additional lighting to add to the ambience of the room. We are big lovers of fairy lights within the team as we feel it makes the day feel more whimsical. We have different fairy light options on our prop shop or use vintage lanterns for visual warmth. The lighting will create a relaxing environment so everything feels a bit more special during your wedding. People don’t feel transported to a happier place when they step into a room lit with fluorescent lights.
